Metaverse Music Expo (MME) was founded as a non-profit organization in January, 2011, by a small group of volunteers possessing varying degrees of experience in Second Life and Real Life marketing, exposition and event planning. Our love of music leads to one simple goal: bringing a great group of musical talent together in one place for the benefit of the musicians, managers, and fans. The Expo is a four day community event created to honor and celebrate the live music community in Second Life.
MME debuted in April, 2011, with two simultaneous running stages on seven sims, with one additional sim for expo booths. We averaged 700 unique visits per day. The typical stage hosted 25 fans, peaking at 65 avatars during one event. Linden Labs supported the Expo with a post in the destination guide and three Messages of the Day, the notification everyone receives when logging-on to Second Life.
In February, 2012, the Expo spent its second year at Aero Pines Park and Recreation Area. We saw over 4,000 unique visits throughout the weekend, with an average of 50 avatars at the stage at all times. The Lindens worked hard to provide us with sim support allowing the Expo to retain 80 avatars for a number of hours. Linden Labs again provided MME with a post in the destination guide.
Now in our third year, Metaverse Music Expo has become the premier music event in Second Life. With strong community ties and outreach to loyal and new music fans, MME is an unforgettable annual event. Metaverse Live Music Expo 2013... it's bigger and better than ever!
